Retrieval
Dimple searches by meaning and by exact words, then combines both result lists. A query can find related ideas as well as names, symbols, and identifiers.
How a query is ranked
Section titled “How a query is ranked”Both search legs use the same namespace, topic, and content-type filters. A concept filter applies to semantic search only. Dimple combines the rankings and can give newer memories a small boost.
Control the result set
Section titled “Control the result set”Use a query profile to choose keyword, semantic, or hybrid search. Use topic, namespace, and content-type filters to limit where Dimple searches. Result budgets can limit the number of memories, the text size, or the query time.
Every successful query also schedules an audit record with the search mode, the filters, and the IDs of the memories that contributed.
